Dr. Shrestha joined Mount Vernon Internal Medicine in 2016, after separating from the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a Major. She is board certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Shrestha received her medical degree at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She completed her residency and fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and served in the United States Army as Assistant Chief of Endocrinology at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Dr. Shrestha sees a wide spectrum of endocrine diseases, with particular interests in thyroid and parathyroid disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and adrenal and pituitary disorders. She performs ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies of thyroid nodules in the office, and offers Afirma genomic testing.
