We are now offering the flu vaccine at all of our office locations! Please make sure you call Mount Vernon Internal Medicine at 703-780-2800 to set up your appointment to receive the vaccine so you are covered during the Flu Season.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get a flu vaccine by the end of October as it takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies that protect against flu to develop in the body.
Be aware of common flu symptoms including fever, cough, headache, muscle aches, tiredness or sore throat. Influenza is spread to others when an ill person coughs and sneezes. Remember to wash your hands frequently, especially after coughing, sneezing, or using tissues. If you have influenza stay home from work or school, get plenty of rest, and drink fluids.
If you suspect that someone in your family has influenza, contact your health care provider for advice and possible treatment. For more information and details from the CDC click on the following link : https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pdf/freeresources/family/flu-guide-for-parents-2017.pdf
