Biography

Dr. Carter is a native of Washington D.C. and joined Mount Vernon Internal Medicine in 1999 and has served as the Vice President since 2008. She received her medical degree from The University of Colorado, School of Medicine. She served a tour in the Army, completing her Internal Medicine Internship at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon (Augusta), Georgia. She went on to serve at duty stations in Camp Humphrey, Korea and Fort McPherson, Georgia. After completing her military commitment, she finished her residency at the Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where she also served as a Chief Resident. After her residency, she returned to the D.C. Area and worked briefly with George Washington University before joining Mount Vernon Internal Medicine. She is the Medical Director at Belvoir Woods Healthcare Center where she cares for patients in the nursing and assisted living facilities. Her special interests are geriatrics and the management of chronic health care issues.
